Since 1993 the USDA Forest Service has sponsored a stone carving project at the Boy Scout of America National Jamboree held every four years at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia. Four sculptures have been created (1993, 1997, 2001, 2005) and all are on display in the Forest Service Headquarters (Sidney Yates Building) in Washington, D.C. The Forget-Me-Not sculpture (2005) was designed by Pietro del Fabro. It was created to honor the lives of Alaskans Michael J. Shibe, 49; Mike Lacroix, 42; Ronald H. Bitzer, 58 and Scott Edward Powell, 57, who were tragically killed at the Boy Scout Jamboree on July 25, 2005. The Forget-Me-Not is the state flower of Alaska.
